The Mouse
Monday, December 10th, 2007I have been catching up the last week and have miserably failed to update my blogs. My lovley wife continues to remind me that I never update my non-running blog. My response is that nothing else newsworthy ever happens in my life. So a word of warning to everyone this is a summary of our family vacation. It wont be as bad as watching home video or slide and I will try to keep it brief. For those in a rush here is a one sentence summary.
We flew to Florida, opened our wallets, heard a 4 day magical sucking sound and returned home.
For those who are gluttons for punishment here is the day by day recap.
Wednesday: Our friendly airline was find enough to bump by 8:30am flight to a 6:30am flight. OUCH! SO we all woke up a little before 4 in the morning to fly to Florida. The flight was typical.
Once we arrived in Florida we picked up our flashy Jeep rental car and began our journey to The Nick Hotel.(Yes I slept in a room for 4 night with Spongebob on the wall.) From here it was a quick trek to the world’s greatest theme park (cough) Epcot! Ok, for the record I love Epcot. It was probably the second best day of our trip.
Highlights:
-Soarin’ and it waiting line. They have this very cool game you play on giant TVs while you wait.
-Beer and Bratwurt in Germany. mmmm.
-Test track. Lots of fun for the whole family.
-Mexico boat ride. This little hidden ride in Mexico is lots of fun.
-Nine Dragons Chinese food. VERY pricey but tasty.
Thurday
Thursday was our day at the Magic Kingdom. We spent the extra cash for the Magical Christmas party. The resulted in our visit lasting from 8:30am until 11pm. We rode every ride at least one except for the River Boat and Pooh’s ride (aka Winnie on acid). This may have been the most exhausting day of my life. I will say it is the only day I have ever had to find Diet Coke to keep me going.
Highlight:
-The hall of Presidents. I had never been in and I really liked it.
-Splash Mountain. We dragged Michelle on twice and were soaked both times.
-The Carousel of Progress. Best ride and song at Disney PERIOD!
-The standards (Pirates, Haunted Mansion, ect.)
-FREE hot Chocolate and cookies. Anything free at Disney is a bonus.
Friday and Saturday:
Thursday was a GREAT day BUT it spoiled the balance of the days. Friday it drizzled all day and I had a MAJOR Magic Kingdom hangover (Like a regular hangover without the booze). On top of the weather and the exhaustion we found out we were going to be greeted by a snow storm and in turn had to fly back on Sunday instead of Saturday. In these two days we managed to visit Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, MGM Studios, and Downtown Disney. Lots of fun but no energy to enjoy.
Highlights
-Rides I liked (Universal: Men In Black & The Mummy, Islands of Adventure: The Hulk, Spiderman, MGM: Rocking Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror)
-Great Dinner at Wolfgand Puck’s. mmmmmmmmm
-Kate and I appeared in the Nick Hotel live show. Fortunately there is no video.
All in all the trip was a big success. We all had a lot of fun. We probably returned a little too soon since our last visit as many of the attractions seemed a little stale.
