Clinch day and relooking at my picks.

Friday, September 28th, 2007

No more superstitions for me! Today’s the day. The Cubs WILL win, the Brewers WILL lose, the division WILL be ours and I WILL be at home game 1 a week from Saturday.

On a side note. With a week to go my MLB predictions turned out to be one of my better years.

I picked in the NL: Cubs, Phillies, Dodgers, Mets (Wild Card) with the Diamondbacks as my suprise team.

Turns out the D-backs surprised a little more than I figured. The Dodgers did fall apart and I did not see the Padres being as successful as they have been. My MVP was Ryan Howard (close but no cigar). My bust team was the Brewers which may be true but not how I intended. WAY off on my ROY and Cy young picks. Barry Zito was my bust FA and he delivered. OUCH! Also, I did predict The Riot nickname would REALLY catch on.

In the AL I picked: Red Sox, Tigers, Angles, Yankees (Wild Card) with the Rangers being my surprise team.

Okay, off the bat the Ranger sucked big time. The Indians were much better than 2nd place and the Tigers fell apart. I did hit the MVP pick A-Rod (I know “way to go out on a limb”). The A’s were my bust team and they were lousy. Again I cannot pick ROY or Cy Young. Gil Meche was my Bust FA and I wouldn’t consider him a bust.
Now all that remains to prove me as Genius is the Cubs celebrating in Fenway park in late October.

Monday I will post my end of the year awards.
